Drugstore Superstar | Peach Slices Peach Pudding Makeup Cleanser Review

I'll admit that I have an appreciation over the finer things in

life

skincare, but that doesn't mean I can't appreciate products on the more affordable end of the spectrum! Peach & Lily released a more affordable line at CVS last year and I'm slowly working myself through their products. Their Peach Pudding Makeup Cleanser is one of the newer releases and after seeing the packaging, I wanted it! Shallow, I know, but that's what drives us Instagram crazies.

I've been using it intermittently for about 3 months and have gotten 10000s (more like 5) of questions about it in DMs so I thought it was finally time to wrap up my thoughts in a blog post.

Price, Size, & Availability

$7.99 via Peach & Lily; $11 via CVS but I bought it cheaper in stores, I recommend using their in-store product locator to find it at a CVS near you. Also if you sign up for their emails, they're constantly sending out 20, 30, 40% off coupons.

Ingredients

Hydrogenated Polyisobutene, Water (Aqua), Butylene Glycol, Glycerin, Olive Oil PEG-7 Esters, Glyceryl Stearate, Polysorbate 60, Cetyl Alcohol, Stearyl Alcohol, Butylene Glycol, Dicaprylate/Dicaprate, Isopropyl Myristate, Prunus Persica (Peach) Fruit Extract, Calendula Officinalis Flower Extract, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Macadamia Ternifolia Seed Oil, PEG-40 Stearate, PEG-100 Stearate, Beeswax, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter, Dimethicone, Cyclohexasiloxane, Sorbitan Stearate, Caprylyl Glycol, Chlorphenesin, Carbomer, Triethanolamine, Caprylhydroxamic Acid, Disodium EDTA, Cyclopentasiloxane, Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Oil, Pelargonium Graveolens Flower Oil

It doesn't contain any synthetic fragrance but does have some essential oils. The first ingredient is an emollient which makes sense when you realize it's a cream cleanser!

Most affordable cream-based cleansers (lookin' at you, Ponds) have a mineral oil base. Like I said in my WTF is mineral oil blog post-- it's a good ingredient that's unfairly greenwashed. But unfortunately, my skin doesn't get on well with it so I avoid it; which in turn means avoiding most affordable cream and oil based cleansers. Then came this Peach Slices cleanser-- completely mineral oil free!

Packaging

A short plastic jar with a screw on lid. When you first get the pudding, it’s pretty much filled up to the edge which means the first few times you use it, you can accidentally spill some while dipping in to get the product. I wish they rose the walls of the jar half an inch to prevent this.

On a purely superficial note, this is the cutest skincare product I’ve seen sold at CVS. American drugstore brands need to get on the cute packaging bandwagon, especially since their prices seem to be skyrocketing!

Texture

Lotiony. It's a cream cleanser so it feels soft and sorta cold. It spreads out easily.

Scent

It doesn't have a strong scent-- if you give it a strong sniff you get a light peach perfumey scent. It's not very noticeable nor is it offensive.

How I Use It

On a dry face, as my first step in my nighttime routines. I then splash my face with water so it can emulsify and rinse off. Unlike most other cream based cleansers, it actually emulsifies. And it emulsifies quickly, I don't have to splay my face 6 times for it to thin out and turn milky.

After it emulsifies, it washes away easily! There's no film left behind. It's not hydrating nor is it stripping. I ado lways double cleanse when I use this, because even though it doesn't leave a film-- I feel like I need something *more* to get my face 100% clean.

Because it washes off easily without stripping my skin, sometimes I'll also use it as a morning cleanser-- I'll usually follow up with a toner afterward because I'm not double cleansing.

Effectiveness

This literally has makeup cleanser in the name so you can guess what it's meant to do.

It rinses off my sunscreen and works at removing light makeup. Sadly it's no match for liquid lipsticks, waterproof eye makeup, or a cake face foundation + setting powder + fixing mist power trio. You can see in the photos above, I still have waterproof liner + liquid lipstick + a smidge of concealer leftover after using this.

BUT, if I use a micellar water to remove the more stubborn makeup beforehand, this also works on days I'm wearing a full face of makeup.

Final Thoughts

Because I wear light makeup most days, this totally works for me! It's not absolutely perfect but for the price point (I paid less than $5 with a coupon), I'm willing to work my way around the issues. If this were $30+, I wouldn't repurchase. But for less than $10 it's absolutely a win for me.

I love that it's affordable and effective for my everyday routines (because I don't wear heavy makeup most days.) It doesn't dry me out or irritate my skin or eyes, and as a major bonus looks cute in an Instagram routine photo (#priorities.) I also like how accessible it is. It's not something I have to order from Korea and then wait 3 weeks to arrive, it's something I can get by driving 2 minutes to my local CVS.
