Bye, Bye Trash

I wasn't planning on sharing an empties post today, but after taking a second look at my editorial calendar I realized if I didn't share one today, I would get around to sharing one until the new year when all the holiday post madness is over. And I'm not sure I have the patience to keep the pile of trash for that long so here we are!

I was going to say I didn't have many empties for the last month and a half, but after writing this post I gotta say I was wrong. I finished a lot more than I thought I did! Even though I don't have a strict project pan list going at the moment, I'm still trying to focus on finishing up older products so that I can move onto new pretties ๐Ÿ˜‡

As always, my empties are split into three categories: definitely repurchase, maybe repurchase, and will not repurchase.

Definitely repurchase

Kypris Antioxidant Dew
The first reason this landed on my wishlist is because of the beautiful packaging but after using up a bottle, I can say the serum inside is just as beautiful as the outer packaging. I over-exfoliated my skin at the beginning of the month and most serums stung the heck out of my skin. But not this guy! Not only is it soothing, but it's also hydrating. It doesn't make my acne disappear, but it does make the area less red and irritated.

With antioxidants and preventative aging products, only time can tell if they're working or not. Personally, from my opinion, the ingredients in this serum are going to deliver the results they promise.

Mommy UV Mild Gel SPF 33 PA+++
If you read my Sunscreen Hoopla! post from this summer you may remember this as my favorite sunscreen from the post.

It's silicone and alcohol-free, which is a major plus for me. It has absolutely adorable packaging with a pump. The consistency is very lightweight and it disappears as soon as you start rubbing it in. It's also quite affordable for a sunscreen as it's well under the $20 mark!

I thought I already repurchased it but I guess I forgot to... I'll need to get on that ASAP cause the only downside is that I have to order it direct from Japan and the shipping takes a while.

Youth to the People Age Prevention Superfood Cream
Sometimes I worry I'm being too annoying about talking about the same products, multiple times buuuut I guess it just means I really like them! Like the Kypris antioxidant dew serum, this moisturizer was also featured in my spring beauty favorites post.

The ingredients list are yummy. Literally. If you've read any of my YTTP reviews then ya know what's coming next-- it's like a salad for your face. Ingredient and scent wise!

The texture is incredibly lightweight but still imparts a solid amount of moisture. It doesn't pill and plays beautifully with oils. It's also silicone free!

Yet another product I've talked about again and again. So lightweight, so moisturizing, so yummy. You can read my full review of this honey drop bb here.

Aussie 3 Minute Miracle Moist Deep Conditioning Treatment
The cheapest, most hydrating conditioner out there. My hair always feels so soft after using this stuff. It's also dirt cheap so I don't feel too bad about being heavy handed with it.

Dr. Jart+ Ceramidin Cream Mini
You already know.

Leaders 7 Wonders Caribbean Calming Mask + Balancing Recovery Mask (PR gift)
I've gotten a load of Leaders masks as PR, but have also purchased a lot myself. The fit on them is amazing, the material is amazing, and the amount of essence is very generous. If my skin is too dry or too irritated or breaking out, these are the sheet masks I reach for because I know they calm my skin down.

Maybe repurchase

Cremorlab Mineral Treatment Essence
Yet another product I bought because I buy shit for packaging ๐Ÿ™ƒ I recently reviewed it on my Instagram here.

Missha All Around Safe Block Essence Sun SPF 45 PA+++
I will forever love this sunscreen for introducing me to the amazingness of Asian sunscreens. While I really do enjoy it (you can read my review of it in my Sunscreen Hoopla! post) I also want to try other sunscreens so I probably won't be repurchasing at the moment.

Saturday Skin Daily Dew Hydrating Essence Mist
This was hands down the prettiest mist in my skincare stash and I'm a little bit sad to see it go. Out of all the products I reviewed in my Saturday Skin one brand review, this was my favorite. But it wasn't amazing enough for me to run out and repurchase it immediately when there are so many mists out there I would still like to try.

Ouidad Ultra-Nourishing Cleansing Oil
I've repurchased this shampoo a few times before. And yes, it's a shampoo, not a cleansing oil although the texture is a teeny tiny bit thinner than your usual shampoo.

I liked it because it's very gentle, doesn't irritate my hair, and doesn't dry me out. In fact, it's one of the most hydrating shampoos out there! After consistently using this shampoo I find my hair doesn't get as greasy as quickly.

I will probably repurchase it somewhere down the line but I have quite a few shampoos to go through first.

Bumble & Bumble Hairdresserโ€™s Invisible Oil Balm-to-Oil Pre Shampoo Masque
So this was an interesting product. It's very thick and somewhat chunky, and you have to melt it between your fingers before adding it to the ends of your hair.

The results are really nice! My hair was definitely softer and more hydrated when I used this mask once a week. But the full size is a much bigger investment (I bought this mini foil packet at TJ Maxx for under $5.)

Botanic Farm Rice Natural Energy Mask Sheet (PR Gift)
Reviewed on my Insta here.

Annie's Way Arbutin + Hyaluronic Acid Jelly Mask
Um, so I should probably have taken notes on this mask because I don't really remember much about it. It was fun to use and soothing. I did buy a full-sized tub of a different mask from the line so I'll eventually have a solid opinion on the formula.

L'herboflore Black Pearl Whitening Mask
Um so yeah another mask that I don't remember much about. The material was soft and the fit was good from what I remember.

Sunday Riley Ceramic Slip Clay Cleanser
When I first bought this cleanser I was all about it. It has a low pH. While it does have a clay base, it wasn't stripping or drying. And then winter came.

Unfortunately, for the most part, this was too drying for my skin in the winter. I would occasionally use it for a deep cleanse but for the most part it lurked in the back of my medicine cabinet. Because I used it so infrequently during the colder months, it took me more than 2 years to use it up.

I probably won't repurchase the full size but I would grab a mini like the one that's available at the moment in a gift set with good genes.

Sunday Riley Blue Moon Cleansing Balm
This is another cleanser that I changed my mind about. At first, I wasn't impressed with it but by the time I finished up this mini tub I fell in love with it.

It's not a balm I would use to remove makeup as it doesn't do a very good job at that and it's simply too pricey to be wasted on such a mundane purpose. Rather, I like using this in the shower and leaving it on my face for a few minutes so my face can soak that shit in! Afterwards, my skin feels so refreshed and hydrated. Thanks to the teeny granules in it, I also get some gentle exfoliation action.

This is another product I will probably repurchase in the future once I finish up some other cleansing balms.

Fig + Yarrow Pink Love Bath Salts (PR gift)
These smelled really good but I'm not sure they did anything else? They're also the first bath salts I've ever tried. While I do like them, I'll probably try out some cheaper options before deciding if they're worth the splurge or not.

Mario Badescu Facial Spray with Aloe, Cucumber and Green Tea
This mist doesn't really do much. In comparison to other sprays, it's not particularly hydrating. In fact, I don't find it to be hydrating at all. But it's cheap and it smells good and I don't mind applying it between layers of skincare to make them less sticky.

Farmacy Honey Potion Renewing Antioxidant Hydration Mask
I talked about this mask in my Sephora top picks post. I love it in the mornings to wake myself up and smooth and hydrate my skin!

Devacurl Buildup Buster Micellar Water Cleansing Serum
Let's be real for a sec, the name of this product is a total word salad. A micellar serum? Lol what?

I would say it's like a shampoo that doesn't lather/ foam up. I don't mind because I find it to be very gentle and kind to my roots, scalp, and hair. It doesn't dry any of them up! The only downside is because it doesn't foam, I need to use a looooot of product to get all my hair as it's quite long.

It has a lot of negative reviews on the Sephora site and I think it's because it's in a weird middle place. It's not no poo so it's too drying for people who are. But it's also not a traditional shampoo so it's not cleansing enough for people who are used to such shampoos.

Complex Beauty Co Rose Glow Mask (PR gift)
This is one of my favorite quickie, exfoliating masks. It isn't harsh and isn't drying. I wear it for 5 minutes, wash it off, and wake up the next morning with smoother skin. Sadly I spilled the little bit I had left in this jar on my floor. RIP.

After a finish up a few other masks, I'll most likely repurchase this!

Will not repurchase

Sachajuan Hair Repair
This wasn't the worst thing I ever tried... but it is way too overpriced for what it is. It wasn't super hydrating and I hated the packaging. I had to constantly bang it on my hand to get the product out because the bottle was too stiff to squeeze.

L'oreal Advanced Haircare Volume Filler Thickening Shampoo
I hated this POS so much I couldn't even finish it ๐Ÿ˜’ It's sooo drying it wasn't worth using it anymore.

Ouidad Advanced Climate Control Conditioner (PR Gift)
Like the Sachajuan, this wasn't horrible but it wasn't anything amazing. I can't see myself paying $20+ for this when the Aussie one costs $3 and works 282349 times better.

Secret Key Gold Racoony Hydrogel Mask (PR gift from Mikaela Beauty)
Honestly, one of the worst hydrogel masks I've ever tried. The main reason it was so disappointing is because it was almost dry when it came out of the packet. It barely delivered any moisture to my skin. Pass! (Although the packaging is adorable)

OMHECK

And dat's it! Those are all the products I used up over the past month and a half. I've been pretty good at focusing on using up products before trying new shit. Hopefully my next empties (which will probably be in 2018) I have just as much crap emptied ๐Ÿ˜‰

What have you emptied yet? Do you also get an urge to clean out your beauty collection as the end of the year approaches?
