Masks of the Week #2: Fancy Freakin' Sheet Masks Edition

I don't have the words for an intro today, so let's get into it πŸ’πŸ½

Manefit Bling Bling Hydro Gel Mask - Energizing Rose Mask

Available via Soko Glam, Amazon, & Opening Ceremony

Ingredients: Water, Butylene Glycol, Glycerin, Cetyl Ethylhexanoate, Citrus Paradisi (Grapefruit) Fruit Extract, Rosa Centifolia Flower Extract (1%), Ceratonia Siliqua Gum, Chondrus Crispus (Carrageenan), Rosa Canina Fruit Oil, Avena Sativa (Oat) Protein Extract, Glyceryl Stearate, Cellulose Gum, Sodium Polyacrylate, Hydrogenated Polydecene, Sophora Angustifolia Root Extract, Lonicera Japonica (Honeysuckle) Flower Extract, Camelia Sinensis Leaf Extract, Phenoxyethanol, Prunus Persica (Peach) Leaf Extract, Ginkgo Biloba Leaf Extract, Scutellaria Baicalensis Root Extract, Disodium EDTA, Trideceth-6, Fragrance, CI 17200

Fit? I've had mixed experience with two piece masks but thankfully this is one of the better ones I tried. It fit pretty well! The eye holes were a bit generous but I don't mind. Because it's a thicker material it didn't lie perfectly flat around my nose.

As time went on, the bottom piece started slipping around my mouth. It probably didn't help that I was trying to eat ice cream while wearing it...

Material? The mask came in two pieces and each piece was wrapped between two layers of plastic. While I don't really like the excess packaging, I can appreciate it helps keep the mask extra soaked! Additionally, the mask had a crosshatched texture to one side so you could tell which side went on your face.

As stated in the name, it's a hydrogel mask. It had some weight to it so I could finagle it to get a good fit without worrying about tearing it.

Scent? It had a pleasant, light rose scent. Often times rose scented products have a fake, synthetic rose smell but this one genuinely reminded me of the smell of fresh roses or rose water!

Timing? I wore the mask for around 30 minutes and it was starting to dry out all over at that point.

Effect? Personally, I find hydrogel masks to be extra cooling and soothing-- something I crave in the summer time. Besides for the whole relaxing process of applying this mask, I didn't really notice any strong after effects. My skin did get an extra kick of moisture (without stickiness!) but I still ended up following up with my usual skincare routine.

I bought the mask on clearance for around $1 at Urban Outfitters and would probably be willing to spend up to $3 to repurchase it. But it originally retails for $6 and I don't think it's worth the heftier price tag for me.

Leaders Balancing Recovery Mask (PR gift)

Available via Leaders & Ulta

Ingredients: Water, Methylpropanediol, Butylene Glycol, Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) Flower Extract, Dipropylene Glycol, Niacinamide, 1,2-Hexanediol, Portulaca Oleracea Extract, Acer Saccharum (Sugar Maple) Extract, Lactobacillus/Leuconostoc/Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Fruit Extract, Glycerin, Hydroxyethyl Acrylate/Sodium Acryloyldimethyl Taurate Copolymer, Betaine, Xanthan Gum, Melissa Officinalis Flower/Leaf/Stem Water, Caprylyl Glycol, Ethylhexylglycerin, Fragrance, Polysorbate 60, Sorbitan Isostearate, Triticum Spelta Seed Water, Rosa Damascena, Flower Water, Artemisia Capillaris Flower Extract, Ecklonia Cava Extract, Houttuynia Cordata Extract, Ledum Palustre Extract, Saururus Chinensis Extract, Anthemis Nobilis Flower Water, Calendula Officinalis Flower Water, Achillea Millefolium Extract, Arnica Montana Flower Extract, Artemisia Absinthium Extract, Gentiana Lutea Root Extract, Sodium Benzoate, Potassium Sorbate, Citric Acid, Caesalpinia Sappan Bark Extract, Magnolia Obovata Bark Extract, Terminalia Chebula Fruit Extract, Acetyl Dipeptide-3 Aminohexanoate.

Fit?
Pretty perfect. It's like a second skin. If I talk or move my face too much it will budge a little around the bridge of my nose.

If I were ever brave enough to wear a sheet mask on a plane, I would wear one of these. It's a little bit more low key looking because it adheres so well and is semi-clear.

Material? This is made out of the same fermented coconut that their 7 wonders masks are made out of. Personally, it's my favorite mask material because it contours to the face perfectly! And even if you wear it too long and the mask itself starts to dry out a bit, my skin never feels that dryness.

Scent? I don't know if it's just me, but I find 75% of Leaders masks to hold the same lightweight chamomille-y scent that I love. Probably because it's a star ingredient in many of their masks 😝

Timing? I wore it for 40 minutes. By the time I took it off it was dry, especially around my nose.

Effect? So much hydration! Plus there was tons of essence leftover in the plastic packet the mask came in. The essence itself is a bit viscous making it thicker than your everyday essence.

My skin felt brighter and smoother after using this mask. Since the essence was a bit thicker my skin did feel tacky for quite some time after I pulled off the mask. But it didn't impede me from slapping on some oil and calling it a night.

Lululn One Face Mask (PR gift from Skinstore)

Available via Skinstore, Lululun, & Yamibuy

Ingredients: Water, Glycerin, Propanediol, Squalane, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Phytosteryl/Isostearyl/Cetyl/Stearyl/Behenyl Dimer Dilinoleate, Glyceryl Stearate Se, Phenoxyethanol, Polysorbate 60, Methylparaben, Xanthan Gum, Carbomer, Phytosteryl/Octyldodecyl Lauroylglutamate, Hydroxypropyl Methylcellulose Stearoxy Ether, Potassium Hydroxide, Disodium EDTA, Isomalt, Malus Domestica Fruit Cell Culture Extract, Tocopherol, Diglucosyl Gallic Acid, Lecithin, Vitis Vinifera (Grape) Fruit Cell Extract, Sodium Benzoate

Fit? Hands down the best fitting cotton sheet mask I've ever tried (even better than Leaders cotton masks which is my gold standard!). It had little slits on the sides of the mask which made it very easy to fold it and customize it to the shape of my face. The eye and mouth holes were perfectly shaped. It also had eye flaps which I had no idea how to use πŸ˜‚

My only small complaint is that the sides of my nose were bare due to the slits around the nose area. It also prevented it from lying flat on the bridge of my nose and between the eyes. Then again that may be because my nose is on the larger size πŸ™†

Material? The material of this mask was so so so so so ridiculously soft. It felt like some fancy ass cotton soaked in the softest of milky essences. In fact, the feeling reminded me of a Shiseido cotton pads which are literally fancy ass cotton pads.

Scent? Surprisingly there wasn't any discernable scent to this mask.

Timing? I wore this mask for around 20 minutes. It started drying out around the edges but it was nowhere near being uncomfortably dry.

Effect? My skin was super soft and hydrated afterward! I skipped applying squalane oil (which has become an integral part of my nighttime routines) and went ahead with a sleeping pack. Unlike other super hydrating sheet masks, I didn't find my skin to be particularly sticky after using it.

There was a decent amount of leftover essence from the mask. Usually, post masking I like to squeeze the sheet mask to see how much essence I can get out of it. When I squeezed this particular mask I had enough essence to moisturize both my arms!

Polatam Water Gel Extra Force Moisturizing Mask (PR gift from Ohlolly)

Available via Ohlolly

Ingredients: Water, Quercus Acutissima Sap, Butylene Glycol, Glycereth-26, Propylene Glycol, Rosa Centifolia Flower Water, Dipropylene Glycol, Erythritol, Betaine, Beta-Glucan, Sodium Hyaluronate, Dipotassium Glycyrrhizate, Hydrolyzed Collagen, Allantoin, Ceramide 3, Artemisia Annua Extract, Azadirachta Indica Leaf Extract, Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract, Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Extract, Centella Asiatica Extract, Scutellaria Baicalensis Root Extract, Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Flower Extract, Zanthoxylum Piperitum Fruit Extract, Pulsatilla Koreana Extract, Usnea Barbata (Lichen) Extract, 1,2-Hexanediol, Chlorphenesin, Tocopheryl Acetate, Arginine, Carbomer, Hydroxyethylcellulose, Polyglyceryl-10 Laurate, Polyglyceryl-10 Myristate, Glycerin, Disodium EDTA, Fragrance

Fit?
Really, really nice. The problem with reviewing multiple masks in one post is I run out of words πŸ˜…

It fit well all round. Unlike the other masks I talked about today, this fit really nicely around my nose and bridge! The mouth hole was a bit big but I scrunched up the material to fit around my mouth + chin better and it stayed in place.

Material? It was made out of a soft, thin, clingy material. Often times thin masks are equated to cheap/ inferior masks but I don't think that's always the case. A good thin mask can adhere really nicely to your face and this one does just that!

And because it was thin, it held sooo much essence. When I first took it out I was expecting it to drip all over the place due to excess essence, but I was pleasantly surprised that it didn't.

Scent? A light, clean scent.

Timing? I wore it for 40 minutes! By that time the middle of the mask was starting to get dry but edges still had a decent amount of moisture.

Effect? My skin was really refreshed and hydrated after using this mask! I think out of all the sheet masks I reviewed today, this one had my favorite ingredient list-- sodium hyaluronate, centella asiatica, ceramide 3, and so much more goodness.

I felt a teeny bit sticky after using it but the stickiness was gone within a few minutes. Because of that I could see myself using it in the morning when I'm more concerned about avoiding stickiness.

And that wraps up this edition of masks of the week! I would really like to hit publish on more of these posts as they're relatively quick to make... in theory πŸ˜…
