It's Summer? Here's My Spring Beauty Favorites
Now that summer is officially upon us Northern Hemisphere-ers, what better time to share my spring favorites /s?
You may have noticed that I haven't shared a monthly beauty favorites in quite some time (and if you haven't noticed, no worry I won't be offended, I barely noticed myself...) Most of the favorites I would feature were products I used for more than a month, because can you really call it a favorite if you've only used it for a week? And then were were products that I used constantly over a period of a few months, but I didn't want to feature the same products over and over again in monthly favorites. I sent out a feeler on Instagram to see if people would be interested in reading a seasonal favorites post instead and got a good reaction!
Without further delay, here are the products I've been loving the most over the past few months.

I don't think I'll ever get tired of saying that this moisturizer is like salad for your face. And it's literally true because it has spinach, alfalfa, and kale leaf extracts, It's also chock full of vitamins A, C, B5, and E as well as sodium hyaluronate.
It's become one of my go-to moisturizers for the humid weather as it's very lightweight. It has a fluffy, whipped texture and melts when applied to my face. Even on the days where there's 80%+ humidity, this still doesn't make my face feel greasy. I wrote a review on it on my Instagram a few weeks ago. I lamented that I'm afraid of using it up too quickly... and my worst fears have come true because I've hit pan. Or whatever the skincare equivalent of pan is 😅
The brand is based in California where they grow their own ingredients and produce their products in small batches. I talked a bit more about them in my post on 5 up and coming green beauty brands to look out for!

This brand and product first came up on my radar when it was featured at Nordstrom's K-beauty pop-up. I wish it were still sold at Nordstrom so that more people could easily access it!
If you've never heard of the brand before it's probably because it's a Korean pharmacy brand, and this is their first beauty product. This skin elixir is inspired by an herbal remedy that's believed to aid a wide variety of maladies like indigestion. You can read a bit more about it on their website or on my Instagram post about the mist.
First off, ya know I have to mention the packaging. It's held in an apothecary style bottle that brings me feelings of nostalgia... despite the fact that I wasn't even alive when apothecary type shit was around. I don't have any of my own photos of the outer packaging, but it's just as beautiful! It's wrapped in a wooden cylinder that rolls out like a scroll-- you can see what I'm talking about on their homepage. Last but not least is the mister. It's packaged separately from the actual elixir and it's the only part of the whole shebang that I'm not a big fan of. It's quite a heavy mist and not very fine which means I don't apply this mist over my makeup. But that ain't a big deal because I prefer to use it during my skincare routine to soak up all the good stuff!
The elixir itself is composed of various herbs and extracts, as well as some squalane, ceramides, and shea butter all the way at the end of the ingredient list. What makes this mist one of my absolute favorites (believe me when I say I have a lot) is that it actually makes a difference in my routine. After I spray it, I feel like I've put a nice layer of essence on my face. Even though it is a heavier mist, it isn't sticky. And like lighter mists, it's very refreshing.

As a sucker for all things in pretty packaging, it seems obvious to say I had a love-at-first-sight reaction to Kypris products. Not only is it stunning to look at and conjure up feelings of mystical shit, but it's also very unique!
But as well all know, when it comes to skincare it's what's on the inside of the bottle that counts. Thankfully in this case the stuff on the inside is just as good! Kypris boasts that this serum contains 26 active natural ingredients including but not limited to: sea algae extract, rose extract, and sodium hyaluronate to hydrate the skin, a vitamin c + e complex that works against free radicals and helps repair the skin's barrier, tamanu oil to help banish ghosts of acne past, and waltheria indica extract which calms and brightens skin.
Performance wise the serum also excels! It's dispensed from a dropper and has a runny, milk texture. It's very lightweight and doesn't make my face feel sticky-- which has been an issue I've been facing lately with all the humidity. It truly makes my skin feel more hydrated and moisturized. On some of the most humid days we've been having lately, I've been using this serum in lieu of a traditional moisturizer and slapping on a squalane oil afterwards to call it a day. Thankfully it wears well underneath oils as well as moisturizers, sunscreens, and makeup without any sort of pilling!
I've also found it to help calm down some nasty zits. It's nowhere near as effective as a chemical exfoliant (my usual course of action when it comes to zits) but it's a lot more gentle.
It does have a light earthy scent that is reminiscent of many other green beauty products. It's sorta spicy smelling and believe it or not, reminds me of the smell of freshly baked samosas.
The brand also checks a few more boxes for me because it's founded by a lady, uses sustainably sourced ingredients, and is made in small batches.

As a full-fledged skincare addict, I don't know how I ever survived without oil/ balm cleansers. What was I doing with my life (and skin?!)
This balm has quickly climbed the ranks and become my all time favorite, tied with Clinique's take the day off cleansing balm. Texture-wise it's like your typical balm and once you start rubbing it into your skin, it melts into an oil. It properly removes every speck of makeup and doesn't irritate my eyes. Even on those nights where I apply too much or rub too hard, my eyes don't sting. It emulsifies well and doesn't leave any sort of film or residue behind.
Whenever I open the jar, I always take a whiff of it because it has a very calming, fresh scent. It has a screw top lid which makes it easily portable. It's also just small enough to be travel friendly. Thankfully it also comes with a spatula so you don't have to worry about rubbing your grubby little fingers in the jar.
Ingredient wise it's filled with delicious extracts like turmeric root extract, moringa oil, turmeric root extract, as well as their trademark ingredient: echinacea greenenvy which is supposed to help create an even skin tone (although I'm personally skeptical of brightening products in cleansers as they aren't on our face for very long.) Thankfully it's free of mineral oil!
I've already fan-girled over Farmacy as a brand in my honey potion post back in December, but I can't help but bring up my admiration for the brand again. They grow many of their own ingredients and raise their own bees in upstate New York and have a farm totable face approach for all their products. I was also lucky enough to meet Mark, one of the co-founders of the brand, at an event last month and he was so kind, funny, and passionate about the brand! It made me admire Farmacy even more.

Since I wrote my Glossier: Is it worth the hype? post back in April, I've been wearing this cloud paint more and more. My thoughts are pretty much 90% the same since I wrote the review, with two small changes.
1) Some of the other colors aren't too light for my skintone like I had assumed, but I still hold the belief that the color range isn't the most POC friendly. Hopefully they do expand the color range at some point!
2) I still have an issue with it fading after a couple hours of wear, but I've accepted it. Do I wish it lasted longer? Of course. But I love the way it looks for those few hours of wear so I'll continue wearing it! I've got Nars new liquid Dolce Vita blush on my wish list and I hope it wears longer.

What makes this mist one of my absolute favorites (believe me when I say I have a lot) is that it actually makes a difference in my routine. After I spray it, I feel like I've put a nice layer of essence on my face. Even though it is a heavier mist, it isn't sticky. And like lighter mists, it's very refreshing.
