On My Radar | Spring '17 Beauty Releases
Oh man looking at my editorial calendar makes me sad. I had planned on posting a few reviews by this time of the month but so far have posted a grand total of 1 π. But I'm publicly declaring that for the second half of the month I will be whipping out reviews like... a person who reviews lots of things! In the meantime, let's chat about some new and upcoming beauty releases π.
(P.s. most of the items in the collage are clickable!)
Farmacy Beauty Green Clean
I've already waxed on about my love for Farmacy Beauty but I don't think I've waxed on about my love of cleansing balms. Either way two of my favorite coming things together are too hard to resist. It sold out back in December but it's now back in stock!
Reading the description of this balm on the Farmacy website has me drooling. The ingredient list includes sunflower and ginger root oil, moringa extracts, and papaya extracts. I don't knowanything much about these ingredients but I am excited to research them and give this a go (because yes I purchased it while writing this post.)
It isn't available at Sephora yet but it is on the Farmacy website.
Kat Von D Pastel Goth Eyeshadow Palette
The packaging, the colors, everything about this palette is so beautiful. I haven't read or watched any reviews yet so I don't have any idea how the shadow quality is but in general KVD shadows seem to be favorably reviewed-- even the limited edition ones. I've yet to buy any KVD eyeshadow palettes and this would make a great first one! But I'm not going to because I still haven't touched the Modern Renaissance Palette that I bought back in November. Yay for self control?
Algenist Splash Hydrating Setting Spray
Hi my name is Sharmili and I'm addicted to mists. There aren't too many setting sprays on the market that aren't laden with alcohol so I'm always excited to spot another one! Not only is this mist alcohol free, it's filled to the brim with all sorts of extracts. (A quick ingredients analysis on cosDNA revealed none of the recognized extracts as irritants.)
I know it's a fallacy to assume that "natural" sounding ingredients are inherently safer and better than synthetically produced/ "sciencey" sounding ingredients buuut I still appreciate the addition of natural ingredients. Perhaps they haven't been as well researched as other synthetic ingredients but sometimes they're on the cusp of something new! In addition, I feel like I'm getting my money's worth with these types of ingredients.
Either way I gave this a quick spritz the last time I was at Sephora and the mist is so fine! Like it's literally a very fine mist. I like.
Sunday Riley U.F.O. Ultra-Clarifying Face Oil
This oil isn't very new but the 0.5 oz bottle is! There's also a 0.5 oz bottle of the Luna oil now available!
I got a sample of this last week from Sephora and I really want to love it... but I don't. It doesn't do anything for my skin and like most oils, it leaves me feeling kinda sticky. It's not surprising since my skin doesn't react well to 99.9% of oils. Oh well.
If you are a fan of this/ have been wanting to try it, the $40 price tag is a whole lot easier to handle than the $80. Plus, oils have a tendency to last a pretty long time so you won't need to worry about re-stocking asap.
As a lover of all things Nars, I was excited to see a new concealer from them pop up on the Sephora new arrivals page. But if I'm being honest, it seems like a bit of a random reveal? Wand concealers are definitely more trendy but then again matte bases are supposedly going to be big in 2017! I guess it kinda makes sense as they released a new face primer too (although I think that one is more glowy?)
Personally I will be staying away from them since Nars face products tend to break me out. Also, a matte concealer seems like a nightmare to deal with for my dehydrated skin.
Drunk Elephant T.L.C. Sukari Babyfacial
It has taken everything I've got to stop myself from purchasing this baby. There's a good chance that I will cave before the end of the Sephora 2x points promo...
This mask, at home peel, super exfoliator or whatever you want to call it has a 25% concentration of actives as well as a perfect-for-actives pH of 3.5. Drunk Elephant claims it to be an effective exfoliator for all skin types without causing irritation or redness. On top of that, Drunk Elephant always has the most elegant but practical packaging. An opaque, airtight bottle with a pump? It's packaging perfection!
Hourglass Girl Lip Stylo
While I do enjoy the Hourglass products I have... I still think their products are over hyped. Do I love my ambient lighting palette yes? Do I think it's omg amazing and you need to forget about paying for food and rent and go out and buy it? No.
But gosh darn it and I can't help but fall for the hype around these lipsticks. I love the design and the marketing behind the collection. Most "trendy" named beauty products make me cringe while simultaneously rolling my eyes. I would much rather wear a lipstick named "Achiever," "Liberator," or "Visionary" over "Yaaaaaas" or "P*ssy whipped."
Wet N' Wild MegaCushion Matte Lip Cream
Wet N' Wild has been killing it with the new releases. I'll be posting my reviews of their new gel liners and liquid lipsticks (spoiler alert: I love 'em) later this month and have been slowly testing out their concealer and foundation. In addition to all those newbies, they also released a bunch of new cushion products! Of course as a self-proclaimed K-beauty addict they caught my eye.
Out of all their cushions, the lip cushions called to me the most. I haven't been bold enough to try out the gradient lip, partially because I don't have the right tools for it. It seems like this sorta cushion would make the look easier to accomplish.
I do wish they had some more darker or neutral colors but hopefully they'll be released in the future!
J. Cat Compact Cushion Foundation
$18.00 is hella pricey for a drugstore foundation, especially one by such an affordable brand. On the upside, they have the best color range for WOC! I guess I've become so cynical that a part of me wonders if the colors are darker on the website than they are in real life. It's a shame that they're online only because if they were in store I wouldn't be here writing this post, I would be in stores swatching the shit out of these cushions!
Glossier Priming Moisturizer Rich (if you shop through this link you'll get 20% off your first purchase & I'll get a $10 credit for referring you)
If you follow me on Instagram (@sharmtoaster) than ya know that I already caved and bought this guy π. I used it this morning and it smells. so. good. ugh.
And now it's obvious why I haven't been able to keep my no buy up. Thankfully I can say my low buy is going pretty well... although it's only half way through the month so who knows what's yet to happen.
What are the new beauty releases that have been tempting you?

Becca First Light Priming Filter
I'm half afraid half entranced by the purple color of this primer. If I'm being honest, I'm not exactly sure how this is different from the original Becca Backlight Priming Filter besides for the fact that it's purple.
But alas, I look forward to reading reviews on this primer and perhaps picking up a sample for myself in store at Sephora π
Sunday Riley C.E.O. C + E antiOXIDANT Protect + Repair Moisturizer
I've seen a lot of skepticism over this cream due to the fact that Vitamin C is a difficult ingredient to preserve and this cream comes in an open air jar. Since I'm not chemist I'll leave it up to the experts to figure out the potency of the active ingredients in this cream.
But the way I see skincare is 30% background research, 70% experience. A product could have a sophisticated ingredient list and theoretically work well but end up destroying your moisture barrier. So while I enjoy learning and reading about ingredients, I'm more interested in hearing about how a product works in real life as opposed to in theory.
I was able to snag a free mini of this earlier this month and have used it twice now. It's pretty rich and on the verge of being greasy. My favorite part is its deliciously citrus scent although I can see how that would irritate some people's skin. I'll have to continue using it to see if it offers any long term benefits.

Chanel Camelia De Chanel Illuminating Powder
This powder was made for Instagram. The embossed rose is absolutely gorgeous π
I've been bargaining with myself saying I can either purchase this highlighter or the Drunk Elephant babyfacial and I'm 95% sure I'm going with the Drunk Elephant. While this Chanel highlighter is beautiful, who really needs yet another highlighter? On top of that I prefer a softer, buttery formula. While I haven't seen or swatched this highlighter, their 2014 Chanel Camelia de Plumes Illuminating Powder Highlighter had a hard, baked consistency which didn't appeal to me.
Of course if you love collecting makeup this will be a beautiful addition to your collection!
