hair4dayz | Irresistible Me extensions first impressions
In the era of wannabe Kardashion/ Jenner look-a-likes, it's kind of a wonder that I had not tried hair extensions before now. But thanks to Irresistible Me, I'm all aboard the hype train. What a time to be alive.
Before wearing these I thought that hair extensions were the false lashes of the hair world-- aka impossible to use no matter how many freakin' times I tried. Thankfully I could not be more wrong! While I don't think I will be successfully wearing falsies anytime soon, these hair extensions were a total breeze for a noobie like me.
So today I'm reviewing the set of hair extensions which changed my hair game. Ultimately, I chose the 20 inch 200 gram Remy hair extensions in the color natural black from Irresistible Me's "Silky Touch" line.
Side note, if you're wondering what the heck Remy hair is, this facebook post from a professional hair stylist sums things up perfectly. To quote her post, "if “100% Human Hair” is the Benz of the industry, then “Remy Hair” is the Phantom…And “Virgin Indian Remy” is the Bugatti."
Color match: The natural black color was a 100% perfect color match for me! I've bought cheapie faux hair accessories at local beauty supply stores and the color and texture never quite match that of my natural hair. Since these are 100% Remy human hair, the color match was spot on. The texture is very silky smooth, but in a natural way. It's basically identical to the texture of my hair when it's been blow dried/ straightened/ curled.
Length & weight: I picked the 20 inch extensions which totaled 200 grams. The lightest and shortest in the range are 14 inch 100 gram extensions, and the heaviest and longest are 24 inch 200 gram extensions. In total I received 10 wefts. One 4 weft clip, two 3 clip wefts, five 2 weft clips, and two 1 weft clips.
Price: The price depends on the length and weight, with the heavier and longer extensions costing more. The set I chose retails for $199, but at the time of this post they are on sale for $149 on the Irresistible Me site and $169.15 on amazon.
Before & After shots (please excuse the awkward smiling at the ground. After 4 years of blogging, I still haven't mastered the whole looking natural on camera thing)
In these photos my natural hair was quickly straightened. As you can (hopefully) see from the photos, the color of the extensions are spot on. Because of my choppy layers and overall shorter hair length, you can tell the difference between the extensions and my hair when its straight. However, if I curl my hair or even better, work them into an up-do, then it's practically impossible to pick out my natural hair from the extensions.
Packaging: The extensions were sealed into a large, plastic, ziplocked bag and packed into a black cardboard box. Everything arrived safe and sound and tangle free.
What I really appreciated about the packaging is the inclusion of a sample weft. Basically, you could open the sample weft to make sure that the color matched to your own hair color before you go ahead and break the seal on the majority of the extensions.
Ease of use: As I mentioned in the beginning of this post, I have never used hair extensions before yet I found these so easy to use. After watching a few youtube tutorials, I caught on pretty quick. The snap on clips with the extensions work great and clip into my hair without causing any sort of knots. So far the longest I have worn them is for 4 hours and I had no issues with them becoming looser or falling off. They're also really easy to remove. Simply snap the clips open and bam, they're ready to be removed.
Disclaimer: I was sent these hair extensions for free, in exchange for an honest review on this blog. As always, all thoughts and opinions are my own!
