Monday fiver

1. Sun-dried tomatoes in the oven
Summer is coming to a close and that means our garden is slowly going out of commission. That also means that we've got a sh*t ton of tomatoes. And oh the things you can make from tomatoes!

This time around I decided to sun-dry some of the smaller ones, seasoning them with evoo, salt, pepper, basil (also from our garden), and garlic. After they were out of the oven, I added some more evoo, garlic, and basil, plus some crushed red pepper to add a nice kick!

You can find a general recipe here, then go customize your own seasonings!

2. Last Week Tonight With John Oliver
I've been catching up on Last Week Tonight With John Oliver over the past week and have been left wondering why the hell I haven't kept up with it in the first place. While I miss watching The Daily Show with Jon Stewart and The Colbert Report, John Oliver definitely fulfills my need for a comedy news show. My only complaint is that it's only on once a week!

You don't even have to have an HBO subscription to enjoy John Oliver's in-depth investigative pieces as they're posted onto his youtube channel every week. Huzzah!

3. Rolled ice cream
I don't want to say rolled ice cream was the trendy dessert of the summer, but in my world it was. A few weeks ago, Sampada and I waited for about two hours to try this delicacy in a teeny ice cream shop in Chinatown. While I'm not looking forward to repeating that lengthy wait, I am salivating at the thought of getting my hands on some rolled ice cream ASAP!

We hit up 10Below, but other options include I CE NY and Juicy Spot Cafe.

4. Victorian meets 70s Zara blouses
To be honest, the whole all the things 70s, all the time has gotten a bit tiring. That's not to say I'm 100% over it. The latest Zara TRF features a lot of billowy, frilly tops which I am all about. They're a more subtle way to celebrate the 70s revival and a perfect way to transition the trend for (slightly) cooler weather.

5. Kerry Washington's Emmy's Marc Jacobs dress
Scandal might have gone down the drain, but Kerry Washington's fashion has only gotten better. In concept the dress seems like it has way too much going on, but she pulls it off perfectly with her simple makeup, jewelry, and updo.
